POSITION SUMMARY

The DC Chamber of Commerce has partnered with DC Health Link for over 13 years. DC Health Link is the online marketplace for health insurance in the District of Columbia. Every business under 50 employees and every individual that lives in the District is required has to get their insurance thru the exchange. Linda Currie has been supporting the program under the supervision of the President & CEO. The Business Development Specialist will lead the outreach and enrollment of business in DC’s health insurance opportunities through the marketplace DC Health Link.

The Business Development Specialist will manage the DC Health Link program and be responsible for developing and implementing innovative approaches to increasing outreach and enrollment of small businesses in quality health insurance through the DC Health Link Small Business marketplace. The full-time manager will conduct intensive membership in-reach and partner with District agencies and local business associations to identify, reach and educate existing and emerging small businesses about the value of health insurance and to support their enrollment in health insurance marketplace.


BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Liaison between DCHBX and the DC Chamber of Commerce with the purpose of supporting the enrollment of businesses and providing any customer service support needed during the sales process

  • Participate in all meetings with DCHBX and the DC Chamber of Commerce

  • Analyze and expand business operations toward sustained growth

  • Monitor revenue streams and identify opportunities to increase profitability

  • Evaluate and enhance sales, marketing, and branding strategies

  • Outreach to community organizations and small businesses

  • Identify and develop new lines of business based on consumer behavior

  • Develop client relationships and strengthen industry partnerships

  • Identify new clients by researching, participating in and creating networking opportunities

  • Liaising with the Chamber’s Membership Team, the MarComms Team & Programs Team to align strategies aimed at increasing enrollment opportunities

  • Identify opportunities for enrollment and distribution of information

  • Submit weekly & quarterly reports on outreach activities and confirmed enrollments


REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience as a business development professional in a related industry

  • Advanced knowledge of business development, sales conversion, marketing strategies, and brand expansion

  • Ability to maintain strong client relationships and establish industry partnerships

  • Flexibility to attend in-person business community events for networking and prospecting

  • Competency in negotiating and closing business deals

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate with other team members yet take initiative on developing tactics to reach goals

  • Mobility to work from the DC Chamber of Commerce office a minimum of 2 days a week or when requested and attend networking events and meetings to promote enrollment on behalf of the Chamber when needed

  • Support the team with a variety of tasks and collaborate when requested
